Class Policies

All students receive 20% off class supplies!

Registration at least 24 hours in advance of class is required. Full payment is due at or before start of class. Classes must have a minimum of 3 students with exceptions at the discretion of the teacher. Unless a class does not run, class fees are non-refundable except as credit towards future classes.

Knitting

 

Knitting Level I:

Knitting from the Beginning

The fabulous foundational fundamentals to the world of knitting lie right here, where the introductory tools of knitting and purling are grasped. Learn how to knit, purl, cast on, and bind off as handily useful, handmade dishcloths are created by YOU! Sequentially, confidence, and skills build, and one may venture into learning to increase and decrease stitches while fashioning a lovely baby alpaca scarf.

Knitting Level II:

Hats Off to You!*

As a progression of the beginning knitting class, knitting skills are honed and sharpened as a warm, snuggly hat is knitted. The introduction to reading a pattern, knitting in the round, and simple pattern modifications remain the highlights of this excellent class.

Knitting Level III:

Seamless Sweater – SERIOUSLY!**

If seams are a bother, this is the class for you. Fashion a sweater without them! This tiny version shall be completed in a snap and will equip you with all the invaluable techniques necessary to create one in a larger size of your choice.

Knitting Level IV:

A Sweater for You!**

You’ve knit the baby sweater and now you’re ready for an adult size. Simple modifications to length and fit turn an ordinary sweater into an extraordinary part of your wardrobe. Pick any Knitting Pure & Simple top down sweater or cardigan and Erika will help you make it the sweater of your dreams. Class meets every two weeks.

Basic Socks on Double Point Needles*

(2 Sessions)

Learn cuff to toe, heel-flap and gusset construction. The pattern provided allows you to choose the gauge of yarn you are comfortable with. We will all use the same pattern and stitch count, so chunky yarn will yield an adult-size sock while fingering-weight will yield a child-size sock.

Basic Mittens Magic-Loop Style**

Hemlock Ring Blanket***

Lace and beads in one fabulous accessory!  Knit this little shawlette using one skein of sock yarn.  Shaped garter stitch borders a lace panel.  Increases, decreases, beads, and more.  We will cover basic chart reading and learn the easy method of adding beads.

Beads of the Earth*

A fun and easy beaded scarf that would make a great gift. Stringing beads, beading your cast on, and knitting beads into the edge of the scarf create a beautiful cascaded bead effect. This scarf is made in two sections and grafted together in the middle. You will be surprised how fast this project is!

Irish Crochet Pincushion/Sachet***

Dive into the art of Irish Crochet with this delicate little cushion. Stuff it with pearl barley for a pincushion, or fill it with stuffing and your favorite potpourri for a sachet. Great for Christmas gifts or just because. Students will learn how to “network” crochet and use Irish Appliqué methods. Although the pattern stitches are fairly basic, you must be comfortable working with string.

Beginning Counted Cross Stitch

Ever admired someone’s needlework, specifically counted cross-stitch? It’s simply beautiful! In this power-packed class you will learn all the basic stitches, become knowledgeable about fabrics and threads, plus Peggy’s tricks. Best of all, discover the enjoyment counted cross-stitch can bring to your life. Class project provided. Bring a lunch or snack! Heart in Hand Pocket Sampler

“Peggy has had requests for a sampler class and here it is! This is a small HEART in HAND sampler with nine specialty stitches, the design size is 1.5 x 3.5 inches, and is done on 32ct linen. Class kit includes chart, fabric and “”friend”" charm. Class will be limited to eight students and only intermediate level stitchers will be appropriate.”

Freebie Framing Workshop

By now you are most probably finishing up needlework intended as a Christmas gift and need to think about getting it framed, right? Okay then, two days have been set aside just for this purpose at MYSS!

 

**PRE-REQUISITE** Attendees must have knowledge of framing and have their own supplies. This is NOT a framing instruction class. However, Peggy will be on-hand to assist you as needed. Bring your lunch, and a snack to share with each other during the day.

Drop Spindle Spinning

Working with yarn that’s been spun by hand is an exquisite experience. Every knitter or crocheter knows how a hand-made sweaters differs from a store bought one made by machine. But the difference is twice as telling with garments we’ve made from hand-spun yarn. They have an energetic charge and a liveliness that’s impossible to replicate by machine. Come learn how to make your own yarn!

3-D Needle Felting: Cutie Bugs
