 Winter 2012

Happy Winter to All!

If you haven’t snuggled up by the fire with a warm drink and your knitting, crochet, or stitching, it is time to do so.  All the beautiful new yarns we have in will definitely inspire you to create and dream in color.  Our staff is here to help you with your choices and any technical questions you might have.

If you haven’t noticed, we have done a complete reorganization of our yarn and needles.  The store is now divided into sections by yarn weight.  So we have: 1) Lace, fingering, and sock weight; 2) DK; 3) Novelty; 4) Worsted 5) Chunky & Super Chunky.  This will make it easy to find yarns for your projects.

Also, most of our circular knitting needles are now filed in a cabinet by size.  Addi Turbo, Addi Turbo Lace, and Clover Bamboo of the same sizes are all in a drawer together.

Plus, our leaflet patterns are now easier to access and are in new binders!  As always, if you can’t find what you are looking for, just ask and we’ll be happy to help.

Please feel free to come, sit, and knit any time.  The shop is a great place to socialize and the water for tea is always hot.

Stay warm, be happy, & knit.

Helllllloooo Happy Stitchers!

Join me for a hot cup of coffee (hot chocolate or tea) while I put my column together will you? Thanksgiving is now over and as I write this all of us are starting to gear up for the Christmas holiday with shopping, baking, working on gifts, and all. It’s such a busy time of year.

So what do we have to look forward to after all the holidays you might ask. My first thought is peace and quiet, and maybe a bit of free time to sit and stitch for a while. The weather most certainly will be very chilly by then and we’ll want to stay inside more……….yep, stitching will do just fine!

To encourage our love of cross-stitching MYSS continues to bring in new charts and restock fabrics, along with anything new I can find to entice you of course. I’ve been talking with the manager at Wichelt and both of us are disappointed to find some of the jobelan and linen fabrics are no longer available ~ although I feel confident we can find a suitable alternate if need be. The manufacturers just aren’t making as many colors as in the past. We carry high quality fabrics from Wichelt & Zweigart, and while I am most happy to special order Weeks fabrics and any other “designer” type of fabric our customers desire, the price of these fabrics for our stitchers always remains a factor.

Wichelt is now carrying the Caron line, so obtaining them for you will be much easier and faster in the future. If your chart calls for Crescent Colours silk or perle cotton #5 (in addition to the 6 strand floss we already stock), let me know as our distributor is stocking all three. Other types of threads available? Weeks ~ 1 ply wool and 3-5-8-12 perle cotton (special order) in addition to their 6 strand floss. Sampler ~ “Simply Wool” a wool stitching thread (special order) in addition to their 6 strand floss.

I’m working on lining up some new trunk shows for 2012. We’ve done quite a few designers and I’m trying to find some new ones. It’s becoming a bit more difficult, as I’m told many designers are not doing trunk shows anymore. Did you get a chance to stop by and see the My Big Toe trunk show this month? If not, it will be here until the 28th of December. Come on by!

Lizzie Kate put out quite a few new designs over this holiday season (and we have them). One of the cutest is a set of 6 charts called “6 Fat Men” (snowmen). We have all three double flip-it charts, the suggested fabric, and free border chart for your stitching enjoyment.

Linda has newly designed 3 Inspirational Boxers very recently. Two are stitched and in “our room”, and I’m presently stitching the third. I just read she is doing a second “round” of Inspirational Boxers, but no hints yet as to their verses. Darn! The first three are beautiful, and so appropriate to “life”.

I’m having some interest shown in the designer Ink Circles. We’ve had a few of her designs, have just gotten in two of her newest designs, Metamorphosis & Love Letters, and will be getting more as new ones are released. If you have a special design you’d like to stitch I’d be more than happy to special order it for you. All cross-stitch charts are routinely ordered on the 1st & 15th of each month.

IF you have a special designer that sparks your interest PLEASE let me know!! That goes for fabric or almost anything YOU would like in our stitching room. How about a trunk show?? Any special designer you’d like? I do listen to your requests and I will try to fulfill them to the best of my ability.

Block-of-the-Month Club will have had a wonderful Christmas party with dinner and an ornament exchange by the time you read this ~ and we’ll be looking forward to beginning BOTM again in January. This year we will once again be doing “pick a piece” and/or a monthly series chosen by the group. Might think of joining us ~ we have a stitchin’ good time! 3rd Wed. of the month, 5:30 – 7PM.

Monday night and Tuesday morning stitching groups will also have enjoyed our Christmas parties by the time you read this ~ party, party, party!! Pictures were taken of all the party merriment, so please feel free to take a peek by clicking HERE!! We all enjoy each other’s company, the love of cross-stitch, and we’ll be here for 2012!! Love cross-stitch??? You’re welcome to join us!!

My coffee is now cold and I need to go and warm it back up, so with that I’ll leave you ~ until next

time.

Happy Stitching ~

Peggy
