Wonton Chicken Salad Recipe

Our summer PJ Party was a big success this past weekend. If you missed it, you missed out on great food and lots of fun! Betty was kind enough to share her wonton chicken salad recipe, which was the hit of the evening. Make this great dish for your next get-together and it’s sure not to disappoint!

Wonton Chicken Salad

Salad:

3 – 4 chicken breasts, boiled with a peeled piece of ginger, chopped into bite size pieces
6oz slivered toasted almonds
1/4 cup toasted sesame seeds
1/2 cup dice green onions
2 heads romaine lettuce, chopped
1/2 pkg wontons, fried and crumbled

Dressing:

1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1 tsp pepper
2 tsp salt
1 cup oil

Boil sugar and cider vinegar together until sugar dissolves, add pepper and salt. Cool. Add oil. Toss with salad ingredients and serve.

Our favorite skin care company, Bar-Maids recently held a contest for their retailers. Send in a picture of your display, fill out a survey and be entered for a chance to win $75 worth of free product. Well, thanks to the lovely Erika (pictured below), we won!

Help us celebrate our new hours! Sunday, June 6th we open at 10 am! We’ll have coffee, tea, mimosa, muffins, quiche, fruit, and, of course, knitting and conversation! There is no charge to attend but we will gladly accept donations.

Crochet BOTM: Canceled

Parade Detour

As many of you may know, the annual Pear Blossom Parade is tomorrow! Court street will be closed from McAndrews on down. But don’t panic! There is an alternate route to the shop. Simply take a left on Beatty St. and then a right at the alley way between the 700 and 600 blocks. The map below shows where the alley way is located.

Trunk and Fashion Show

Join us Saturday, March 13th at 4:00 pm for our first fashion show of 2010! Come see the display on loan to us from Not Just Plain Jane Knits.

These pieces are truly stunning and the detail and color must be witnessed first hand. We’ve organized a fashion show to display these patterns that will surely entice both seasoned and novice knitters!

Refreshments will be served and there is no cost to attend. See you then!

Great American Afghan Club Tonight

Just a reminder:

Knit Block of the Month meets tonight (February 1st) at 5:30 pm.

This month’s block is number 21. You’ll need a size US7 needle (or size to obtain gauge) and a cable needle.

Club dues are $10 per month, for which you receive a $10 shop credit (good for one night only).

It’s never to late to begin this fun and challenging project. Come join us!
